Sneak Peeks, New Bracelet, A Neighborhood Friend

As promised, though a little late, some sneak peeks of the doll project I have been working on.  Its coming along slowly.  I have been working on some other projects though and have had to set it aside.  I plan on picking it back up in the next week or so.  There are some slightly more important things to be taken care of first :)

I'm really please though at the amount I have accomplished on it.

These are pretty tiny sneak peeks, but they aren't supposed to reveal much for now :)

Last weekend I started a new bracelet on a whim.  I dug out some seed beads and yellow moss agate stash.  It took me over 15 hours through three days to finish it.  It turned out nice in the end.  A cuff with snaps to make it appear seamless.  When it was done, I realized that it would actually look pretty nice with the necklace in my last update.  Here are a couple shots.

Beige, frosty green, clear, smokey clear brown seed beads.

Yellow moss agate & clear quartz crystal round beads.

Hand stitched & reinforced.

Finally its been snowing so much over this month.  I am pretty happy about it.  I know everyone wants it to be over, but I wish it would have done this all winter.  It was so bitter cold in November and December, and there was no snow.  It was a bummer.  Now its snowed so much that my backyard looks like a little winter wonderland :)

However, the news sounds like this big snowy storm cell is going to be going away.  :(  I'll miss you snow.  I know its almost March, but I don't care :)  So until the sun takes him away, I have a new neighborhood friend that greets me every time I park my car.

Isn't he cute?

Snow, Doll Update, & Valentines Day

This month just feels like it is flying by. I can hardly believe that tomorrow is Friday. It snowed a whole bunch a couple days ago. I know most people are just sick of winter by now, but I was hoping for some more snow. A lot of places have already had tons of it, but its been pretty dry here. It doesn't feel right. I remember it snowing more than this thru the season just a few years ago. We've only had a little snow, and this was the first big snow it seems we have had so far. It wasn't epic, but I would say a good amount.

The doll is coming along slowly, but that's okay. :) I am working on her legs.
I promise that I'll toss up some sneaky peek photos in the next few days. I have to get my camera battery charged and the card space freed up. She is looking pretty good so far. I haven't decided what part of her I am going to work on next.

Valentines day is coming up quick. I'm making a couple little things for my sweetheart. Nothing too big. I've got one thing finished, and another to make.
Speaking of Valentines day, I have been experimenting with my hearts and made these nifty heart links. Like the charms they have a loop at the top, but also have one on the bottom. They have "xxx" on the front. Which I intended to be for poison, but now I realize they could be interpreted from a more naughty point of view too ;)

A Crafty Project Rekindled

I started a project at least 7 years ago. It wasn't very far along and somehow it got tucked away in my piles of strategic craft supplies. Left behind in my closet. It survived two moves. Its been switched out of two different storage bags. It's collected dust.

Lately I have felt creatively exhausted. I could call it a mental block or wall, but it feels worse than that. Its more like someone has taken my muse, locked her up in a stone tower, surrounded by a moat, barbed wire, and rabid chinchillas. Well, I guess I could just say that I have been lacking inspiration. I don't know if its because it been FOREVER since I've made something really amazing for myself or if I am just experiencing winter blues and should just invest in a grow bulb or two.

So a few days ago, or maybe weeks, I dug the old dusty project I had started. My first softie. I sat it next to my laptop and kind of stared at it for a while. Just a few days ago I decided it was time to start again.

She is a main character from a comic book series first released in 2002. I love the art and the story so much. She was so pretty that I was hoping a doll would be released. Eventually one was, but I wont lie, after seeing it and having read the stories, I was disappointed. She wasn't as beautifully presented as she should be. The doll in the comic book store caught my eye from the top shelf, but once I had her in my hands I saw that she couldn't live up to my standards. I decided then and there that I would make my own.

I had so many ideas in my head then and had forgotten some of them. When I went thru the bag of parts though the lost ideas came back. I had left her with just her blank body completed and what I would call an undergarment I suppose. Now so far I have worked on the dress for the last few days. The way things are turning out, I am so pleased. The part that really just makes me giggle is I am really just making it up as I go. Its kind of freeing to just go with it. I'm not planning or over thinking. Which is something I have a bad habit of doing with my more elaborate projects.

I'm being kind of secretive about who the character is for a few reasons. I want it to be a surprise. Also, if she doesn't get finished, I don't want someone to get their hopes up about an end result that never comes. I am debating on releasing hints the closer I get to finishing her. It could be fun. Once my camera batteries are charged I will post a sneak peak here and there.

Right now, I am really excited to see what happens next.
